Science of Nutritional Immunology saves another day

Evening of Friday 25/11, I noticed my little boy being way too inactive from his usual self. I took his temperature which was elevated at 37.3c which went up to 37.5c later that night.

Every time he is feverish, I will always combine Nutrifresh and Millenium for his consumption. Nutrifresh is crucial as it supplies him the necessary natural plant nutrients when he does not eat properly when ill, while Millenium on the other hand, accelerates his body recovery. These two products have proven to work repeatedly and never failed in our experience.

He skipped his dinner and went to bed as he lacked appetite. This time, I was worried not because of his fever but more so his last meal was lunch that day, and I coincidentally ran out of supply for Nutrifresh. This is one item I dread not having on my shelf when my kid falls ill. Historically, when he lacks appetite to eat, his body cannot properly digest solid foods and he throws up from indigestion. So if he gets sick, I am more worried if he does not receive enough nutrition than anything else.

I had to make do with just Millenium before he went to bed and monitored his temperature throughout the night. The next day he had some bread, milk and fruit juices after breakfast, but when all that soon came out as watery stools with a tummy cramp, I sensed potential foodborne illness (his last meal was a sandwich I bought him for lunch on Friday). I immediately eliminated milk, fruits and juices from his diet to not aggravate his situation.

His temperature hovered between 37.5c – 38.5c the whole day. Every time he hit 38.2c, I gave him cold showers (I will not do this if I sense it is an onset of cough and cold, and thinks it is not advisable too). While I fed him some fish congee for lunch and early dinner to supply him some solid food energy, he was not receiving it too well with low appetite.

I discovered a last precious packet of Nutrifresh hiding in my cabinet and was very fortunate to borrow a box of it from a friend. The entire day, apart from plenty of water, he was on generous amounts of Nutrifresh and Millenium as the basic foundation beverages to supply him the necessary nutrients.  In view of his loose stools and stomach cramps, I also gave him Digeston that specifically aids to nourish and repair the digestive system. My friend actually wanted to gave him an extra supplement that comprises of mushrooms and cordyceps to boost his healing process. This little boy is so lucky his grandma gave him the whole bottle of the same supplement a week before and so I took my friend’s advice to give him accordingly.

He will normally be hyperactive with all the chatting, playing, running, etc. Not this time, it was a quiet whole Saturday. He slept through nearly the whole day and nothing interest him.  His temperature held steady between 38.2-38.3c from evening till midnight until he finally broke into perspiration at 1am, a potential indicator of recovery.

He was up earlier than me this morning. I believe about 5am. He came and slept next to me and knowing it was still my sleep time, he did not disturb me. When I woke about 730am, he was already walking about, chatting and playing with his favourite toys. I knew the whole night he was on the road to recovery as he was continuously perspiring till morning.

The one thing that lingered for him was he kept complaining about dizziness the whole of Saturday and this morning. Understandably, he did not have much solid foods and meat in his system, and had more than his regular bowel movements. He in fact, threw up his vegemite bread and quite a bit of the precious E.Excel concoction at midnight yesterday.

This morning, I recalled my mother in law mentioned a long time ago that dizziness can at times be caused by wind in the tummy. While his temperature was back to normal, he complained being giddy and wanted to lie down. Just taking a guess, I followed my mother in law’s recipe for wind, which is sesame oil ginger omelette.  I quickly whipped up a sesame oil and omelette for his late breakfast. I didn’t have real ginger for his omelette, so I made him a ginger juice from dried ginger in a bottle which I bought a few months back. In an hour’s time, he was already playing with my iPhone and watching his favourite TV channel.

He did empty his bowel in high frequency today, although in small quantities. Nothing seems serious as they look more like breast milk stools and the way our body’s defense mechanism is getting rid of unwanted foreign invaders.

Our body is indeed a fascinating mechanism. It is the best doctor in the world, and if we are given the right knowledge, we can assist its recovery process.

Throughout the entire incident, my little boy was not on any medications at all.

Thank you again, Dr. Chen for gifting us the Science of Nutritional Immunology.
